Guide for Authors

International Journal of Psychology and Neuroscience (IJPN) intended for the publication of articles on psychology and neurosciences, both clinical and experimental, offering in the online version all its contents for free access, and publishes the following types of articles:

[General]

Manuscripts submitted to the IJPN  vary from 3 to 25 pages in two-column format, english language only. The main text should be divided and organized into the following sections: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion.

Original Articles: Original or Experimental research.

Review Articles: Research syntheses and meta-analyses.

Theoretical Articles: Authors draw on existing literature to advance a theory to expand and refine theoretical constructs or present a new theory, or analysing an existent theory. Review and Theoretical articles are similar, the difference is that theoretical articles do not present information’s about investigations, while the review articles explain in detail the investigations that appreciate critically. The sections of this type of articles can vary in order of their content.

Methodological Articles: Articles who present new methodological approaches, modifications of existing models, or discussions of quantitative and data analytic approaches to the community of researchers. Articles on methodology that showing methodological issues particularly relevant to science.

Case Studies: Authors reports on case material while working with an individual, a group, a community, or an organization. Case studies illustrate a problem; indicate a means for solving a problem; and/or shed light on needed research, clinical applications, or theoretical matters.

Other Types of Contributions: Brief Scientific Notes, Opinion Article, Letters to the Editor, and Invited Article.

• The articles must be unpublished, they can not be sent simultaneously to other journals or be accepted for publication. If they have been partially published (eg., as a summary), it should be indicated in the article.
• This journal closely following the procedures defined in “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals” (http://www.icmje.org/)

*Articles published are the responsibility of their respective authors. The International Journal of Psychology and Neuroscience reserves the right not to publish the documents that the Editorial Board does not grant the appropriate quality or do not comply with norms cited below . The originals unpublished will not be returned.

Copyrights

The International Journal of Psychology and Neuroscience acquires all the rights of published papers, which include the distribution and reproduction of those. The author continues, however, holds the copyright to later publications. The author is obliged to mention IJPN as a source whenever the author later republishes the article on other platforms.

Formatting Guidelines

1. Articles should be written in English in Word format and should not exceed 25 pages (including abstracts, tables, figures, graphics, footnotes and references), from the summary to the references, in A4 format and must be paged from the summary, where you will get page number.

2. Abstract in English  (250 words maximum, including citations) with no more than 6 Keywords.

3. Source: Times New Roman, size 12, throughout the text, including references,  tables, etc.

4. Margins: 2.54 cm on all sides (top, bottom, left and right).

5. Spacing: double throughout the manuscript, including Cover Page, Abstract, Body Text, References.

6. Alignment : justified text  in two-column format

7. Indent the first line of the paragraph : tab = 1.25 cm

8. Page number: in the upper right corner .

9. Internet Addresses: All addresses ” URL” ( internet links ) in the text (eg., http://www.ua.pt/de/pagetext.aspx?id=12309) should be active and lead directly to the cited document.

10. Author Affiliations: Authors affiliations should be their home institutions at the time when their primary contribution to the research was made. If an author’s current affiliation differs, the current affiliation may be listed as a separate paragraph in the Acknowledgements.

*Should join to the original manuscript a separate document stating the title of the article (maximum 12 words), header (running head, with no more than 50 characters), name and affiliation of the authors and name and direction of the author responsible for correspondence, including email address of the corresponding author.

11. The charts, tables, figures and graphs should comply with the formatting rules of the APA (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA, 2019, 7th Ed.), and should be presented at the end of the document. The details of the place where they should be put must appear in the article text.

12. The organization of the text and references must follow APA standards previously mentioned.

14. Prepare manuscripts according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th Edition).
